This is fantastic. We're planning an interactive project at school in the summer to engage parents in thinking about creative learning. I like the idea of leaving something like this running in a space for a length of time to create a visual record of the accumulated sounds. It would be a great way of recording our building since it will no longer exist in 2 years time. Great post!

Thanks for the positive comments Zek. Feedback from your talk at our annual conference has been extremely positive. Several members of staff who are self-confessed luddites emerged from your session enthused about VLEs. Thanks very much!

I really like the Vintage Shift iPhone app. My other favourite photo apps are QuadCamera, Photogene, Polarize and ToyDigi.

In Photoshop, you can also add a layer mask to the blurred layer and apply a gradient to the mask to create a smooth blurred-to-focus effect like that above.

Nice tip teacher.

Thanks for posting this beautiful film. How I wish we had a space like that guy's studio in school to experiment with photography. It's amazing how inventive, dedicated and creative some photographers are. I love the explanation about the strange childhood experience and photographing memory. I'm sure this is what a lot of people who love photography can identify with.
